Is Tampa A Better City Than Miami

Is Tampa A Better City Than Miami?

Heavens yes, Tampa is a better city than Miami FL or Miami Beach FL. Miami is living on reputation from years passed. Do they still have professional sports teams? Have you ever driven down the 826 or any of the highways there? It is a nightmare compared to the Tampa Bay area. Yes, I have lived for years and worked in both locations.

Tampa FL

Miami's housing Costs & Extreme Weather Season

Hurricane season, where would you rather be during any type mild or sever hurricane season? The answer is clearly the Tampa Bay area. Any major city in FL including Tampa and Miami are certainly at some level of risk of them but Tampa seems to take a direct hit a lot less often. Specifically it has been 100 years now. Miami has experienced many more and so has Broward County and Palm Beach County to their north.

Miami Airport vs Tampa Airport

In my earlier years I travelled internationally a lot. I have frequented Miami airport literally hundreds of times. The only advantage that goes to Miami Over Tampa airport is you can catch the train at the Miami International Airport. If you visit Miami that may really help. Tampa's is prettier and certainly has easier parking and a better cell phone lot. Once again, advantage Tampa.

Housing Market & Cost Of Living-More Tampa Pros

This is going to sound like it is one sided because it really is. Miami's housing costs are through the roof and the process is much less buyer friendly. Tampa and Miami have all types of housing but the deposit on a home during the purchasing process is often required to be 10-20%. That is not only above the national average but anyone who has ever been in an escrow dispute will tell you that it really benefits no one.

Family Friendly City Is Seldom Used To Describe Miami FL

I have one family member who has said, I want to raise my family in Miami. Actually that was because her career goals were focused on Miami. I can identify with that because that is why I initially moved to Miami. Nobody I have spoken to has ever said they want to raise their children in Miami. Not that it isn't done but the environment is just not the same and most of Central Florida or Tampa Bay.

Bus System & Public Transportation

Once again I believe Tampa wins. Amtrak visits both locations and trains are available from Tampa to Orlando and Miami to Orlando. Once inside the city specifically downtown Tampa wins with scooters, bikes and the street car. Tampa is much better than most other cities in Florida.

Downtown Area & Tampa vs Miami

Tampa has much more in my opinion and is safer to walk around in. Some attractions here include the Florida Aquarium, Busch Gardens, Ybor City, food trucks galore and more than one museum, the arts, convention centers and the Amalie Arena for professional sports teams. Explore Tampa and you will fall in love with it. Not to mention, we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa's Beaches Are The Best beaches Even For Spring Breakers

Either Miami or Tampa offer beautiful beaches, sunny skies and just the right amount of beautiful weather. The most pristine beaches are in Tampa Bay. St Pete Beach, Clearwater beach and countless more are all much more family friendly city wise and beach wise. Both have water from the Atlantic Ocean and South Beach has blueish water and ours is a blueish emerald green. You never hear of Tampa residents visiting Miami for the beach. When it comes to Central Florida or South Florida, Tampa Bay is the clear winner.
